Biochemistry & Molecular Biology Ph.D. Program

A variety of courses in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Structural Biology, and Bioinformatics are offered through the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry as well as related departments. The following is a list of current offerings. In addition, there are seminar courses offered each quarter that provide in depth discussion of current literature in a variety of topics.

The lecture course requirement is for the Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology is M253 (6 units) plus 14 units from from the following list. No more than 10 units from any one of the following categories can be applied toward this requirement: (A) Cell Biology & Metabolism; (B) Biophysical, Bioorganic, and Bioinorganic Chemistry; (C) Genetics and Integrative Biology. Many of the courses listed below are not offered every year. In addition, new courses may be given. Check the schedule of classes to find out what is actually offered in any given quarter. It MAY be possible, with approval from the Area Advisor, to apply courses other than those listed below toward this requirement.
