John L

Dr. Jonathan Lowenson

Ph.D., University of California, Los Angeles

Jon studies the accumulation of damaged aspartyl residues in aging proteins and their repair in mammalian tissues.
Ph.D. Students
Troy Lowe

M.S. Chemistry, Emphasis in Biochemistry
San Francisco State University
Troy's work focuses on the biochemical characterization and substrate identification of PRMT7, a type III protein arginine methyltransferase with unique enzymatic properties, including a lower-than-physiological optimum temperature.

Eric Pang

B.S. Biochemistry and Molecular Biology,
UCSB

Eric aims to combine contemporary biochemical and structural biology techniques to characterize PCMTD1/2, two proteins thought to be involved in the maintenance of cellular proteostasis, under the co-mentorship of Profs. Jose Rodriguez and Steven Clarke.

Sining "Cindy" Wang

B.S. Biochemistry,
Specialization in Computing,
UCLA

Cindy is a joint student between the labs of Profs. Catherine Clarke and Steven Clarke. Her work focuses on elucidating the structure-function relationship of COQ5, an S-adenosylmethionine-dependent methyltransferase involved in coenzyme Q biosynthesis, using a combination of biochemical and computational methods.
